I’m going on vacation to New York to finally meet my cousins! Fun pictures and stories upon my return.
Mom and Kinley are hit and miss with the blogs. I’m having a crack at this photo Friday. We’ve been to the zoo twice in the last two weeks (sorry I don’t have picture of that), but it’s been a complete “zoo” both times! The parking lot totally full before 10 AM. I mean why would we stand in line to see the same tigers we see almost every week? Kinley wanted a stuffed orangutan, the only one we could find was $54! Mom said “no way.” It’s 75 degrees here and there are flowers blooming. I’ve been refusing my afternoon naps a lot lately , it’s pretty much driving my mom crazy. Check me out I’m 11 months and 1 week old. That’s big time, I can walk and feed myself, I don’t need no stinkin’ nap.
Kinley gets to have all the fun and I’ll not sit for it anymore! That’s right folks, I’ve decided that I want to walk and I’m done waiting around. Mom says it’s dangerous for me to stand up because I forget to hold on, but I told her I’m gonna do what I’m gonna do. You gotta stand if you wanna walk, you know?
Hi everyone. Big day, here’s post two of three. So much has happened since I last wrote. K’s post filled you in on our travels, so let me tell you what I’ve been up to. Six weeks ago I started eating food! It’s been an adventure. Mom says I’m a little more picky than my big sister. I like my oatmeal with cinnamon and vanilla, and I’m a big fan of butternut squash. Peas are gross, apples and peaches I could take or leave. Mom says we are trying blueberries and carrots (not mixed) next week. I have also recently mastered sitting, and can push up on to my hands and knees. Dad says I’m already way better at crawling than K ever was, ha! I’m onto a pretty strict two nap a day schedule and life is good. Here are some pictures of me growing…
On Tuesday Emery turned 3 months old. These days it seems like time is flying by just as much as it seems to be standing still. Can’t believe the year is already half over. Josh has officially started his fourth year of residency and by December 13th we will know if he has a fellowship and where we will be going, just five short months from now. By them Em will be eating real food and on her way to a good crawl (fingers crossed), and yet two more years in Memphis seems just short of forever. Anyway, this week we tested Em out in the bebe pod (read “little chair”) and she loved it. She’s still a little wobbly, but a few more weeks and she’ll be able to be in it for extended periods of time. These days everything seems to be a life or death situation for Em. Where Kinley was able to just lay and play on the floor when she was this age, Em gets only a few minutes, occasionally longer if K is napping because big sister is quick and thinks it’s “ok” to carry babies around by their heads. Lucky for all of us, Emery continues to be very easy going. She is one of the most smiley girls we know, in fact, you know you aren’t funny at all if you can’t get her to crack a smile in 30 seconds. She is also quite good at bring a smile to the face of each of us. Sorry for the poor picture quality. A new camera is on our Christmas wishlist. Also, a special happy birthday wish is going out to Auntie Kelly from Kinley and Emery.
So, the last two months have flown by, and yet it seems like Emery has always been here. Any of you that have seen or talked with us lately know that Kinley is a bit crazy these days with teething and being two and a new big sister… it’s hard. She’s also crazy about Emery. The day is quickly approaching when she replaces me completely (with the exception of changing diapers “no, mommy do it” she says). She’s getting quite good at being gentle and soothing when she’s not having a fit. But, this post is supposed to be about Emery and we try not to ALWAYS let Kinley steal the show. Miss Emery is a very good baby, lucky us. She’s quite the little card when she’s awake, just full of smiles and gurgles and squeaks. She doesn’t like baths (yet) or being flat on her back or forced into tummy time (a lot like her big sister in those ways). She has pretty good head control these days, has rolled from her back to tummy a couple of times, and loves to stand (with help of course). Her best trick is sleeping though. For the last two weeks she has been sleeping 6 hours straight at night and two nights ago we did eight hours. This is great for me because I’ve given up napping in order to try and get more accomplished. It hasn’t really worked yet, but I’m hopeful, wish me luck. In other news Emery’s passport got here with plenty of time to spare and we are headed to Costa Rica on Wednesday. See ya when we get back.
So yesterday Emery was 4 weeks old, and tomorrow she’ll be 1 month! She got her first passport picture taken today. This little lady’s going to see the world, but first a nap…
